You've got to be kidding. I took the gamble and am very glad I did. Incredibly easy to hook up - just match the colors on the cables to the ports on the TV! Sylvania even supplied the batteries for the remote control!!!!
Okay - here's why 4 stars and not 5. The instruction manual is complicated and virtually useless. A vital piece of info is missing - you have to turn your TV to the proper channel for viewing a DVD. The problem is that they don't tell you which one! So, a call to the ever-open 800-customer service line at Sylvania solved the problem.
Bottom line, if you want a simple DVD player with progressive scan to watch a movie, this is your best bet.

I needed a dvd player for my dorm room, since I already have a tv of the same make I decided to get the make's dvd player. Easy to install did not need to read the instructions (I never do when setting up electronics) but when I glanced through, they were straight forward. Godd buy for its price and the images are very sharp plus, it is very light weight.
All in all a great product.
